What this is
Are The Bots Down? is an independent status monitor for major AI services — ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, Perplexity, Grok, and Copilot. It pings each service every 60 seconds, combines that with user-submitted reports, and shows the result.
Why this exists
Official status pages exist for most of these services, but they routinely lag the actual outage by 30 to 45 minutes. By the time the indicator goes red on the official page, the incident is often already half over. User-submitted reports show up here in real time, which usually beats the official announcement by a wide margin.
How it works
Where a service publishes a public status feed (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI), we read it directly. Where one does not (Midjourney, Perplexity, Copilot), we ping the public endpoint. Results are cached for 60 seconds at the edge so the site stays fast even during traffic spikes.
User reports are tracked per service for one rolling hour. Each visitor can report once per hour per service.

This site is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Midjourney, Perplexity, xAI, Microsoft, or any other AI company. We use service names as factual references only. No official logos are used.
